Underground graffiti phenom Skape Zilla will lead a class on graffitti for the 3rd annual Atlanta Hip Hop Film Festival's Youth Corner on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at the Westin hotel in Atlanta, GA at 12:00 p.m.. Most in the hip hop community know Skape Zilla as the pointguard for futuristic production group Battery 5.
Skape aka Skape Zilla aka "The Visionary" was a former graphic design student that fell victim to hip hop after being infected by the Atlanta music scene years ago. Originally from Alexandria, VA the former skateboarder and graffiti artist (thus the moniker Skape) acknowledges reggae, Miami bass, DC Go- GO, new wave, bangara, and drum n bass as flavors from the bag of tricks he references when creating his own brand of hip hop. Besides being a go to man in Battery Five, Skape is also a member of Suntouch a live dub band based in Atlanta, GA. Skape was excited at the opportunity to teach young people graffiti as one of the staples of hip hop. "I don't really think most kids know that art was a part of hip hop from the very beginning, you can't separate the two," Skape says, referencing the elements of hip hop. "It's an honor for me to go back to my roots and teach kids a little about graffiti as an art form especially tying that into hip hop. I was honored that the Atlanta hip hop film festival asked me to be a part of what their doing this year."

In less than a year Battery 5 has become one of the most in-demand production teams in the industry. "I got 32 flavors in my back pocket with this team," says Gregory "Bigg Tyme" Smith. It is the diversity of Battery 5 that has made the team such an in-demand product over the past year. The summer of 2007 has seen Battery 5 working with some of the biggest names in the business such as Usher, American idol winner Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis and Nas. Consisting of mgr Greg "Bigg Tyme" Smith, Skape Zilla, HeadRoc, Mellow Dope, Looke and Mozart, Battery 5 has become an overnight household name among the industry savvy. A partnership with RedZone Entertainment has proven invaluable for the relatively young team. "Battery 5 has roots in hip hop, jazz, rock, soul, hip hop, jungle and reggae. The competition can't see us," boasts Smith, "it's great that Skape is a part of the Atlanta hip hop film festival. We are honored to be a part."
