VH1's new documentary series, “Rags To Riches,” takes a riveting look at the journey inside the American Dream and reminds us all that success means little if you can’t share it with those less fortunate. Billboard.com has named Akon Top Pop Artist of the Year. Granted, Konvicted spent its first 30 weeks camped in the top 30 of the Billboard 200, but Akon won the title for his other strengths. The award was judged on the following five criteria:

I always liked this song from 50's album but this doesn't strike me as an MTV-friendly video and isn't that what he needs if he wants to turn around the sales debacle that is, Curtis. Even an Akon feature can't save this trainwreck I fear....

Funny, Akon has more buzz with one song (it’s currently No. 7 on Billboard and No. 6 on iTunes) than Boo Boo could ever wish for with 5 videos.
