Kevin Garnett

Celtics destroyed the overrated Lake Show to win the 2008 NBA Championship. Pure proof that defense still wins championships. It wasn’t just about one guy, it was group effort. Boston deserved the victory. Ubuntu!

Look out for my Rockets next season.

And the MVP Award Goes to…

Kobe Bryant (1105 votes) has just snatched up his first regular season MVP award. Chris Paul (889) did his thing this year, but Kobe displayed his durability all season long. He truly deserved this one. Now while I agree with the MVP choice, I respectfully disagree with a bunch of the other awards. If I had a say, here’s how my votes would play out:

Most Improved Player: Turkoglu (Magic)
Sixth Man Award: Manu Ginobili (Spurs)
Defensive Player of the Year: Shane Battier (Rockets)
Trade of the Year: Gasol to Lakers
Coach of the Year: Byron Scott (Hornets)
Most Valuable Player: Kobe Bryant (Lakers)
Rookie of the Year: Al Horford (Hawks)
You’re Cool But Your Free Throw Sucks Award: Luis Scola
Good Team, Bad Coach Award: Nuggets read more »

Sure, it hurts as hell to lose your best player halfway through the season while fighting for a playoff spot, despite touting the league’s longest active victory stretch, in an incredibly tight conference where a 2-game skid could easily send your playoff dreams to the shredder.

But we’re fine, thank you.
